Success Focused Peer Groups™

I host and moderate several Success Focused Peer Groups comprised of entrepreneurs, managers, and leaders from all over the world. Traditionally, a peer advisory group is a collection of small business owners or entrepreneurs from different industries or sectors who get together on a regular basis to compare metrics and scorecards, share best practices, and offer each other peer support.

My groups are unique in that members are actually largely from the same industry. We rely on this difference in approach to the benefit of everyone involved for many reasons, but mostly because it means you are meeting with people who are experiencing exactly the same problems you are. It also helps in building partnerships with people and companies who are in the same business. These partnerships can be crucial to the success of a small business trying to get to the next level.

Success Focused Mastermind Groups™

I host and moderate several Success Focused Mastermind Groups comprised of entrepreneurs, managers and leaders from all over the world. When you are ready, you are invited and encouraged to participate in one of these mastermind groups. What can you expect to gain from the group and your participation? The agenda largely belongs to the group, and each person’s participation is extremely important. Every one of the peers gives feedback, helps brainstorm new possibilities, and sets accountability structures that will keep you focused and on your success path. We strive for a community of supportive colleagues willing to brainstorm together to move the group to new heights without reserve.

The concept of the mastermind group was formally introduced by Napoleon Hill almost 100 years ago, and today it’s still considered one of the most powerful entrepreneur tools known in business. In his timeless classic Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill wrote about the Mastermind principle as, “The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony,” and, “No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.” You may already have experienced the power of a mastermind group without realizing it. The best example would be a time when you were deep in conversation with a small group of sharp individuals and suddenly found yourself internally super-charged with new and different ideas, maybe even solutions to things you’d been pondering for months. This is the power of a mastermind group.

Aptitude, Personality, Emotional Intelligence & Skills Assessments

In addition to DiSC Personality Profiles, I utilize the Criteria Corp’s HireSelect system. Through this system I offer four critically important assessments for candidate selection and employee evaluation:

  • Cognitive Aptitude Tests

Cognitive aptitude - sometimes called general intelligence - is the single most accurate predictor of job performance. This is because employment aptitude tests assess qualities that are critical to almost all mid- and higher-level jobs. These capabilities include: problem solving, critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to learn, digest, and apply new information.

  • Personality Tests

Employment personality tests are a valuable tool for gaining insights into the interaction style, personality traits, and behavioral tendencies of individuals. They are designed to assess the aspects of a person’s personality that remain relatively stable throughout an individual’s lifetime. Properly designed personality tests are therefore meant to pinpoint permanent personality “traits” (for example: an individual’s level of extroversion) rather than temporary “states” (for example: an individual’s current level of anger).

  • Emotional Intelligence Tests

Emotional intelligence is emerging as one of the most important qualities to look for in the modern job candidate. Emotional intelligence refers to a person’s ability to understand emotions and to use them productively. In the workplace, emotional intelligence can help us collaborate with others, understand how others are feeling, and influence and inspire people.

  • Skills Tests

Skills assessments measure proficiency in areas like general job readiness skills, verbal and math comprehension, typing and data entry, basic computer literacy, and Microsoft Office. They are designed to determine whether or not an individual has the requisite level of skill required to effectively perform at a job that will require the frequent use of the skills in question.

Key Personnel Selection Assistance

I believe strongly in the axiom: First who, then what. You must have the right people working for you in the right positions, and then you can begin to plan what you will do and the steps to success. If you do not have the right people in the right places on your team, you will likely flounder eternally. But when you have the right people in the right places, you will soar. To find, nurture, and retain your superior team, you must also have what is referred to as a People Process. The People Process covers every aspect of your human resources program, including: Roles and Responsibilities definitions, Candidate Selection, Employee Goals and Evaluations, Training, and even the unfortunate process of dismissing an employee.

To begin with, you will have full access to the Criteria Corp pre-hire screening portal including pre-made Tech and Engineer Tests. Additionally, I will help you in any part of the People Process, from getting a quality position posting placed to the selection and hire process, evaluations, and if need be, the dismissal process. I will participate in the key candidate interviews or perform my own interviews, depending on timing and availability. I will guide you through building a quality employee evaluation program that incorporates all the critical points of top performance goal setting, training and skill advancement, and specific performance items.

An important tool in selecting the right people for the right positions in your team is the DiSC assessment. If you choose to utilize this amazing tool, I can provide the DiSC assessments to you at cost and, regardless of where you acquire them, I will review them for you as part of the candidate selection process.

Focus On Finance

No matter who’s on your accounting and finance team, time spent with your business coach focusing on both short and long-term goals and landmarks is an important perspective. It is the outside perspective of your coach and trusted advisor that guarantees you are seeing things from all angles. If you have taken advantage of the subscribed to Corelytics Financial Dashboard™, it will allow us to look at your Service-Leadership standings and assess your current financial performance compared to others in your industry.

On the call, we will review and adjust the monthly, quarterly, and annual finance goals, including a drill-down to the appropriate level of any aspect of your finances required to ensure there are no unknowns. We’ll discuss specific accounts and roadblocks as needed to make the right adjustments and plan the right actions for the coming weeks. The call can be a team call to include any of your accounting and fiance team, other stakeholders, or even your PSA coach.

One excellent benefit to regular Focus on Finance coaching calls is that they inevitably reveal the need for process documentation, policy, or procedure changes. As finance is one of the most important aspects of your business, the resulting continuous improvement is not only desirable but extremely valuable.

Project Training and Retrospectives

When it comes to time, energy, and resources, a project is the fastest way to lose control and accounting of all three. And when the time comes to figure out how you got so far off track and where all the time, energy, and money went, most companies just write it off and hope to do better next time. If you look up the word “Futility” in the dictionary, you should find a vaguely similar description. Doing something the same way time and again and hoping for a different outcome. To realize repeatability and reproducibility, you must have full control of your project from Quote, Description, Scope, and all the way to the end where you perform a proper Retrospective.

I will work directly with your Sales and Engineers at any level to mentor your team and help them define and document their project process. This includes sitting in on the Engineering meetings to guide the most important early steps of properly performing a pre-discovery, and setting out an accurate project description and scope. I will follow your most critical projects, from Opportunity to Retrospective and beyond. You cannot show that your team has solidly learned anything from a project unless you have performed a Project Retrospective.

The Project Retrospective is the closing of the loop for every project, good or bad, that allows you to continuously and incrementally improve efficiency, processes, and profits on any size and type of project. When you have the right processes driving your projects, you will be able to shift your profit center clearly to the Project side. And after all, isn’t the goal of a top-level MSP to spend less time working on break-fix and more on projects? I’m a master at process and the pioneer of Zero Downtime Network Migrations. Tailored Monthly Training

Whether you’ve just begun coaching or you have been doing it for some time, there is a constant discovery of the need for focus and training in new, different, or unrealized areas. It’s very common to find that taking on new tools, learning new concepts, or shifting core competencies requires a solid focus and training on this new thing to bring the team up to speed. And sometimes it’s just about getting a refresher course or getting everybody on the same page.

Because I’m always looking for ways to improve your quality and processes, I will likely already have the next training session for your team in mind or on hand. Depending on your needs, I will put together a monthly focused training session for individuals, teams, or the entire organization with the right focus to help you get to the Next Level. I may also occasionally invite you to sit in on a webinar or other online training session but with special access to the follow-up Q&A or additional training for clients only. And don’t hesitate to make requests in the best interest of you, your team, or the organization for training of any kind.
