What does DiSC mean?
DiSC is an acronym that stands for the four main personality profiles described in the DiSC model: (D)ominance, (i)nfluence, (S)teadiness and (C)onscientiousness.
People with D personalities tend to be confident and place an emphasis on accomplishing bottom-line results.
People with i personalities tend to be more open and place an emphasis on relationships and influencing or persuading others.
People with S personalities tend to be dependable and place the emphasis on cooperation and sincerity.
People with C personalities tend to place the emphasis on quality, accuracy, expertise, and competency.
Everything DiSC also measures priorities (the words around the circle), providing more nuanced and memorable feedback in profiles.
Two types of DiSC
The two most common versions of the DiSC Assessment are the Traditional DiSC 2.0 (DiSC Classic) where the results are plotted on a simple are Everything DiSC
Everything DiSC results are not quantified so they cannot be “converted” to be presented in the Classic DiSC bar graph format. However, the Classic DiSC is quantified so that, to a reasonable degree of accuracy, it can be presented in the circle format of the Everything DiSC.
Both DiSC Assessments give the end same results. The main difference is the resulting representation of the results.
Can you fail the DiSC Assessment?
- Some people ask the question “Can I fail the DiSC Assessment?” The answer is No – you cannot as it is NOT a test.
- The DiSC Assessment is intended to discover your personality traits and to gauge your behavioral style.
- If you demonstrate that you are more conservative than demanding (or vice-versa), it doesn’t mean that you fail. It simply means that’s how you normally roll.
The Best Way to Address the DISC Assessment
- Give Yourself Time:The DiSC questionnaire only takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Don’t trying to rush through the questionnaire as it will hinder its accuracy.
- Set yourself up for success - Plan to complete the questionnaire in one sitting and remove all distractions and Interruptions. Do it before you’ve had your third cup of coffee and when you’re feeling the most “yourself”. The questions can start to blend together if you take breaks or have distractions.
- Don’t Over-analyze – Relax and go with your gut instincts when selecting answers. You may feel that some of the questions don’t seem sensible. It’s OK, that is by design. The best way to answer is always go with your gut feeling.
